My name is Lone Schaadt. I work under the professional title of
Lone S Design. I was born in 1955 and have been working with various media in the past years. I have a degree in needlework from “Haandarbejdets Fremme Seminarium” in Copenhagen. Since I took the exam in 1999 I've been working with different types of needlework.
During the past few years I've concentrated on textiles, quilting and my indispensable sewing machine.
I work with both traditional and contemporary, pictorial patchwork... both an important part of my world of fabric.
I often add a lot of "stuff" to my quilts – beads, ties and cords, different sheers and different kinds of silk materials as silk roods and cocoons. When I get an idea for a new quilt, I often make a lot of samples to get the right expression – sometimes it takes longer than other times, but I don’t stop until I get the look I want. As the 3D effect has conquered my quilts and my heart and soul, it is a bit difficult to return to two dimensional quilts. It gets you hooked!!
It means a lot to me to enjoy and feel good about what I do. Often I have the impression that we strive so much to get things perfect that we forget to have fun when we work. In my classes I hope to pass this playful approach on to my students in the mere hope that it will be shown in their future quilts.
I hope that I can encourage and inspire you to conquer both personal and traditional limits in your work with patchwork and the art of textile. |
